Summer Cricket Kit

The cricket season is rapidly moving towards us and, with the promise of much sunshine (?!) for the season, please read the below regarding playing kit for the summer season.

Boys’ and Girls’ Equipment

We always encourage pupils to purchase their own pads, helmets and bats for the season.  However, we do appreciate these can be costly so we do provide equipment that pupils can borrow and share between them.  Note that we heavily encourage both boys and girls to buy their own boxes for hygienic reasons along with a suitable undergarment that holds this in place.  As a reminder, for any equipment purchases, please see the Bridewell Bulletin as, if ordered using your son/daughter’s school email address, a 20% discount can be applied for any equipment purchases with our partner Grays.

Girls’ Kit

After considerable discussion with our female pupils, the popular opinion is that the girls would prefer to play their matches in PE kit.  Whilst we realise that some pupils have the new kit and some have the old we are happy to go with this approach for this season whilst the old kit is phased out.  We request that, if you own both, you ensure that the new PE kit is worn on match days so that our girls can, on the whole, be wearing the same kit and looking the part.  Therefore, there are no new items of clothing required to be purchased.

Boys’ Kit

All A team/1st XI players will have received a separate email from Mr Clarke (Head of Cricket) advising that the purchase of cricket white polo shirts are compulsory for the season with trousers, pullovers etc all optional, but preferred, purchases.  If you have received this email then we expect a shirt to be purchased and worn for matches.  All remaining matches (B, C, D etc) will be played in PE kit. Whilst we realise that some pupils have the new kit and some have the old we are happy to go with this approach for this season whilst the old kit is phased out.  We request that, if you own both, you ensure that the new PE kit is worn on match days so that our boys can, on the whole, be wearing the same kit and looking the part. However, all cricket whites are available as optional purchases for any pupil wishing to wear them for all PE/Games lessons but we would likely be playing our fixtures in the PE kit.  Finally, there will clearly be movement between the squads and occasions where a pupil may receive a ‘surprise’ call up to an A team for a fixture or two.  In these instances, we can supply a cricket white shirt for the pupil to wear.
